What Is ACT?

Acceptance and commitment training (ACT) is a scientifically supported education model to help people struggle less with the things that hurt in life and live more purposefully, guided by their values. Scientifically supported means there is evidence that ACT works for many people and might work for you.

What You’ll Learn to Do

You’ll learn how to use a simple tool called the Crosshairs to respond to life situations in a way aligned with your values. The Crosshairs is a diagram that boils down ACT into easy things to remember and do. In the education, you’ll learn to do five key things:

  • Notice it: Notice painful thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them.
  • Stay with it: Stay with them because there are usually things you care about on the flip side.
  • Let it go: Let go of the habit of moving away from pain.
  • Choose a direction: Choose what’s important to you in life.
  • Just do it: Take action in those chosen life directions.

Our Simple
Education Formula

1

Watch

You’ll begin with watching a video that captures your attention, bringing complex concepts and ideas to life to improve learning outcomes.

2

Read

Next is some reading material to help you remember what you’ve learned, review key points, learn more details, and sometimes explore new topics.

3

Do

Finally, you’ll put what you’ve learned into action, learn from your direct experience, and close the gap between what you know and what you do.
